Ingredients:

Directions:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll them in the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar.
Place the sugar-coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each one.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but still soft in the center.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
